Mr. Paracha began his entrepreneurial journey in 1963, driven by a vision to create an industrial footprint that blended ethics with ambition. With humble beginnings and a tireless work ethic, he laid the foundation of what would later become the
Al-Hamza Group of Companies.
In 1980, after trading in various commodities ranging from steel products to molasses, he launched his first major venture in shipbreaking, through which he achieved significant success—recycling ships ranging from 5,000 to 65,000 metric tons.
He was considered a visionary — as Chairman of the Ship Breakers Association of Pakistan, he championed responsible dismantling practices, worker safety, and the advancement of Pakistan’s shipbreaking industry in Gadani, while upholding the interests of all stakeholders.
In 1996, he made a bold and visionary move by acquiring National Petrocarbon (NPC) through the Privatization Commission of Pakistan, positioning the group at the forefront of industrial
transformation.
Over the years, Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Paracha successfully expanded Al-Hamza Group into several key industrial sectors, creating a diversified and robust business group. Under his visionary leadership, the company established a strong presence in trading and ship breaking, and the manufacturing of scrap steel plates used in the production of steel products. He also played a pioneering role in Pakistan’s chrome ore (minerals) sector, contributing significantly to the country’s mineral development and export landscape.
A major milestone was the acquisition of National Petrocarbon through privatization, which enabled the establishment of Pakistan’s first international-standard production of carbon black—further strengthening the group’s industrial capabilities. Mr. Paracha’s legacy continues to reflect a commitment to sustainable growth, national development, and industrial excellence.
His core values of integrity, commitment, and nation-building remain embedded in the company’s foundation. Though he passed away in 2012, his vision and principles continue to guide Al-Hamza Group as it evolves with time.
We are honored to walk in his footsteps, carrying forward his legacy with pride and responsibility.
He will be forever cherished and loved by everyone….
